UPCOMING EVENTS


Since we have so many events coming up, I thought I would provide everyone with more information than was on the Calendar of Events in our last newsletter.

Sunday, April 29

Spring Thaw Car Show – Deerfoot Trail & 64 Avenue N.E. Calgary
10:00 am – 4:00 p.m.
$10.00 per vehicle plus a donation to the Calgary Interfaith Food bank

Let me know if you will be attending so we can arrange to meet before the show. This will allow us to register together and stall together. Plan on being there at 7:00 a.m. to get a space. They have turned away vehicles for the past couple of years.


Friday May 4 & Saturday May 5

CAVAC Swap Meet – Westerner Park Red Deer
We have four tables booked in the Prairie Pavilion (stalls 89-92)
Setup is Friday, May 4 starting at 11:30 a.m. The Swap Meet is open to the general public from 3:00 – 9:00 on Friday and 8:00 – 4:00 on Saturday. Entry is $2.00/person.
We still have some room on our tables, so please let me know if you will be bringing parts. The cost per table ($40/table) will be divided between those bringing parts

If you need camping space call the Westerner Campground at 403-352-8801. There is dry camping available on the tarmac but you must register with the campground. If you need hotel rooms try:

Elk Island Retreat Camping Weekend – Elk Island Park East of Edmonton


Friday, May 25

Arrive at Elk Island Retreat – approx. 35 minutes east of Edmonton. Please call 780-998-0708 to make your reservations. Tell them you are with the Antique Willys Association so we can be stalled together. See www.elkislandretreat.com for more details.

RV sites - $36 per night
Tent sites - $28 per night
Tipis/Trapper cabins - $75.00 per night


Saturday, May 26

Morning open for socializing

1:30 p.m. Tour MilArm Military Museum. This is an excellent private museum.

5:00 p.m. Arrive back at Elk Island Retreat

6:00 p.m. Weiner Roast at campground – bring your own wieners & buns

Sunday, May 27

9:00 a.m. Leave for tour of Elk Island National Park. See www.pc.ca/pn- np/ab/elkisland for more details about the park and its animals.
Admission is $7.80 adults - $6.80 seniors

12:00 Arrive at Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village – See www.history.alberta.ca/ukrainianvillage for more details.
Admission is $9.00 for adults - $7.00 for seniors

Lunch at the Heritage Village Concession or bring your own lunch

4:00 p.m. Return to Elk Island Retreat


This event is open to members and guests. You do not need a Willys to participate. If your Willys is road worthy, please bring it so we can convoy to each venue.


Saturday June 9 & Sunday June 10

History Road – Reynolds – Alberta Museum, Wetaskiwin, Alberta
(check out the Reynolds-Alberta Museum website for the entry form)

Registration must be in by May 11 at 4:30. Check off that you will be displaying “With my car club – Antique Willys Association” so we can stall together.

Please let me know if you will be attending so I can make sure we have enough space for all our vehicles to be stalled together.
No registration cost for this show.

If you need accommodation space – call Prairie Breeze Inn & RV Camping 1 – 780-352-7220 if check out Wetaskiwin accommodation on the internet.

Saturday June 16

6th Annual Willys Weekend – Antique Willys Association Show & Tell
Olds, Alberta
$10.00 entry fee
Registration starts at 9:00 a.m.
Show 10:00 – 3:00
Free pancake breakfast supplied by the Olds Uptowne Business Association
All Willys vehicles will be stalled together on the north end of Centennial Park
Great door prizes

If you need camping call OR Hedges campground 403-556-2299. They are located at 5013 – 54 Street Olds – across from the Cow Palace.

Stu & I will be staying over on Saturday night at the campground and will plan a pizza party for all those wanting to attend. Please let me know so I can order enough pizza.


Saturday September 8

Annual General Meeting and Camping Weekend
Location – Stu and Donna’s farm in Dog Pound, AB located 18 miles west of Crossfield or 18 miles north of Cochrane. Township Rd 290 and Range Road 35. You can check us out on Goggle Maps. Members are invited to camp for the weekend (no services). Come on Friday and enjoy some socialization with fellow members.

Saturday, September 8 – First Annual Car Show in Cremona. We will convoy from the farm (about 9 miles).

6:00 BBQ at the farm ($10.00 per person) Prepayment by September 2
7:00 Annual General Meeting

Sunday, September 9 – Fall Colors Cruise. Bring a lunch
