Hi,

I am currently in the process of fixing up my dad's 1962 french built willys jeep. I originally put this vehicle together out of crates which were shipped out of Africa by the original owner, an Officer in the French Foreign legion. The vehicle was as good as new with only 2500 km on the clock. all that has been done to it is paint it back to it's original colour (it as resparayed metallic green to get it out ouf africa as a civilian vehicle) and changed the oil etc.
I'm planning to paint the markings of the 3th division, 9rd Batallion of the Canadian Army in 1945 on it since that is the unit which liberated our hometown in Holland where my dad lived as a 9 year old boy.
I'll post some pictures.

Nice site.
My dad wants to drive the jeep in the Cochrane parade this year so that's my goal.

Now that is a cool way to come about owning your jeep. Out of Africa and the French Foreign Legion to boot. Hotchkisses are a rare breed now especially in Canada so keep good care of it. :)

Stu! you guys better compare notes!

Hi! That's a great story on the MB. I believe we may have spoke with you after the Cochrane parade 2 years ago. We had the M38 & CJ2A "Jack The Bear". Glad to hear from you. We now have an 1942 MB that we believe was an Invasion jeep & after the war was left for the French as part of the U.S. lend lease program. It is what is called a "MALT" jeep being rebuilt in 1961 and the dash plates changed to french. It has the WOF cast on the head & the thermostat housing. Give us a call as we would like to meet you & see your jeep & compare notes. We are up #22 at Dogpound. Stu or Donna 403 946 5286.

I'm sure you know this but this:

http://www.m201.com/chassis/chassis.htm

is a good spot for checking the serial number alphabet soup on the french jeeps.

Ours is a 1962 french built unit. same year as me.

Sure hope you can bring the Hotchkiss to the AGM! We should be able to make it to the Cochrane Parade. Hopefully, we can have the jeeps all together in the parade. We haven't registered yet, but we are contacting them on Monday.
